Project Funding
Planning, engineering, design, and permitting for the project were funded through a $2.5 million grant from the Resources and Ecosystems Sustainability, Tourist Opportunities, and Revived Economies of the Gulf Coast States Act.
An additional $24 million in RESTORE Act funding and $5 million from the Gulf of Mexico Energy Security Act are supporting the construction of the project’s first 100 acres.
The RESTORE Act funding was approved by the Gulf Coast Ecosystem Restoration Council. Alabama’s GoMESA projects are approved by the Governor’s Office, and the funding is administered by the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources. The Alabama Port Authority is sponsoring and managing the project.
